Depth Cues

The following discusses the 6 different depth cues.

This is an example of a Linear perspective.  As you can see by the screenshot the line continues for a while and appears to end a certain point.  This actually isn't the case because the line is continuing further then it appears.

This is an example of a occlusion, this is when objects that are closer block objects that are further away from us.  In this example there is a pot of flowers peeking out behind that pillar.  It appears to us that the flowers are partially missing but their not, they are just behind the pillar.

This is an example of size differences.  You can see that this person looks like an ant compared to me! And we are obviously similar sizes in real life.

This is an example of texture density.  This is when textures appear more dense the further away they are.  As you can see the texture of the tile when it's close, but from far away it just looks mushy.

This screenshot is an example of Atmospheric Perspective, when light travels the more atmosphere it muct go through.  This results in a fuzzy view.  In this example we see the same sculpture up close and from a distance.  Look how much detail is lost!!

In this screenshot we get a perfect example of lighting an shading.  We all know that the ocean is one color, water is water.  But in this picture we see the comparison between the center of the ocean, where the sun reflects, and the rest.  Even though the water is the same color it appears to be different.

FINAL PROJECT STEP 2: MY COMPLETED IMMERSIVE LIBRARY/MUSEUM (Part 2)

I had to create a blank space for my big museum.  It took a while of chopping grass and land but I finally was able to make a big enough space.

I started to build the base of my structure.

Then I built my rainbow stairs which was my first sculpture.

Then I added a personalized touch and added a K!

This is my floating ice sculpture made out of ice.  I made it float by removing blocks from the bottom.

I then built a library with a golden thrown and a bookshelf wall.

This is my all American room with my USA flag.

You can't see the construction very well because it's night but this is my diamond maze you go through it to reach the treasure chest.

Planted some flowers in the front.

Class 9, Exploring Second Life

First I downloaded Second Life

I had to get to know the controls.  They were pretty straight forward using the arrows.

The first destination I went to was Sydenham Crystal Palace.  At first it looked like a graveyard.

Then I went inside and it was a beautiful palace!

Second destination was Serenity Falls.  I didn't imagine it to be like this.

The third destination was a Winter Wonderland, since I miss the snow so much.

The forth destination was a dance club... It would have been cool but there was no one there.

My final destination was Adam n Eve.  The screenshot is me butting into someones conversation.  opps!

FINAL PROJECT STEP 1: IMMERSIVE LIBRARIES AND MUSEUMS

In the Libraries and Museums and Technology Working group Charter at http://JiED.org we learn about the future of libraries and museums and how people have access to them.  The idea is to make things more digital using 3D graphics to make things more more available and interesting to everyone using Immersive Education.  I think this is a great idea because it will encourage people to read more and learn more because it will be easier to access.  Also, for people who might not live in the area or can't afford these services they can enjoy it as well.

The objectives section talks about how this system is going to work.  There is going to be two sides the client side and the server side.  They also mention the community building aspect which is really important to me because you can still have that human contact through the computer screen.  Not only that but you can connect with people from all over the world which is a great opportunity to learn new things from different people

Personally I believe that the best thing about this program is the convenience.  Instead of arranging a time and place to meet with your group members or peers you just meet in the virtual library or museum and have all the same amenities.  I wish this technology would have come along sooner!  By the time it's all done I'm going to be graduated and working.

Using this Libraries and Museums and Technology, everyone can be in one place at once.  In the above screenshot you see a perfect example of this.  On the left you see three people using different computers, and they are all able to meet.  On the right you see all of the information that is available while they they are meeting.  It's the best of both worlds!

This is what the future is going to look like we are living in a digital age.  Immersive education and LAM.TWG have paired up to create a great program that is just a preview of what the future is going to look like for education has a whole.  They make it possible to have human interaction and learning through a computer.

Class 9 BIG BOOM

I added the red stone and built my lever, my masterpiece was gone in seconds!

Class 9 My Bigger Rocket

This is me constructing my big rocket in minecraft.  I used one layer of pink to add some color, and I added a wooden door in the front.  It got dark quick, so I had to light torches around my rocket.

Class 9 Rocket Explosion

I finally figured out the lever function and I wasn't able to screenshot the explosion! I was too late

Class 9 Minecraft Rocket

I used stone to make my rocket.  I used several layers and tried to build as high as I could.  I had a hard time when it turned dark and had to wait until daytime again to finish.

CLASS 9: CUSTOMIZING MY AVATAR
